4-H and FFA Dairy Show

PCS students recently competed in the 4H / FFA Dairy Show recently held in Palmetto, FL at during the Manatee County Fair.  Senior Courtney Ogle was awarded the Dairy Supreme Champion and finished 4th in class for steers, while her classmate Zach Quattlebaum was named Dairy Breed Champion, finished 4th in class for steers and also had the Beef Breeding Grand Registered Heifer. 

Tenth grade student Emily Davies submitted art projects and won ribbons in all three categories, including one second place rosette ribbon and two first place finshes.  Fifth grader Lonnie Weis competed in the 4H Horse Show and was also involved in photography and in arts and crafts. She raced in 12 events and placed in 9 of them.  She earned the following ribbons: one for 1st, one for 2nd, three for 3rd, one 4th, one for 5th, and two for 6th. Lonnie also earned first place four photography categories and also won first, second and third places prizes in art posters and pencil drawings.  Fellow 5th grader Julia Arfons finished 3rd in Showmanship for Dairy and her calf also won a third place ribbon.  Seventh grader Rachel Smiley also earned a blue ribbon for her hand knitted scarf and purse in the arts and crafts show.
